Glad you got it sorted, Chris!

Changing the clutch rubbers is "fun", you need to apply a surprising amount of torque to get the blighters in!

Thanks for the info and useful link Clanger 9 . Didn't think it was going to be easy but where there's a Will there's a way :D . I'm making it harder for myself now as ive decided to renew the oil seal behind the gearbox sprocket I don't really want to be stripping down the gearbox and clutch again when oil start's pouring out.
When someone says they have restored a bike don't trust them ! If I hadn't got it for the right price I might have been a bit fed up by now . Lucky I'm a bit long in the tooth and have heard it all before. If truth be told I'm quite enjoying a little spannering and just hope the end result will be worth it .
Paul you sound like me a little optically challenged or maybe always in a rush . Work is the curse of the spannering classes.
Don't suppose I will get back to this until Sunday afternoon now.
I'll update when there's news.
Cheers Chris

Hi all just an update on gearbox/ clutch adventures 😀
All stripping down of clutch and gearbox complete now. In the end I removed the gearbox completely from the bike as to be honest it's just easier to access everything . Only problem I had was removing the gearbox sprocket as I didn't have a socket large enough, in the end I used the old method of a large open ended spanner with a suitable lump of steel wedged in to bring it back down to size.
The gearbox area is in a bit of a filthy state so I will clean it out along with the gearbox casing and probably add a lick of paint to the gearbox mounting plates and the little chain cover that you can never get to.
This job is growing rapidly ! Still it's time to change the direction of the ratchet now and that's a good feeling.
I will try and paint the parts during the week ready for Sunday.
I have emailed spares department regarding the oil seal at back of gearbox sprocket but have had no reply yet . Do they normally take a while to respond ?
Paul we will have to meet up to talk lightweights as the wife is getting bored with it !
All the best regards Chris
Further updates when I get time cheers

Hi Chris, nice to hear you're making progress...
Last time I checked, the spares scheme didn't stock the gearbox oil seal (041267), but you can get them from Russell's or Villiers Services. There's a link and info in this thread:
http://www.jampot.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 67#p177012

Good luck!

Hi clanger
Yes I have just found out the spares scheme don't stock them neither does anyone else it seems so I was so glad to see your post .
I will follow the link and give them a try. I have also emailed Norton owners club as I believe the jubilee used the same amc gearbox.
I haven't yet removed the old seal just in case I had troubles finding one .
Thanks once again let you know how I get on .
( Might have to do some work at some point today :D )
Cheers Chris
