Swinging Arm & Battery Carrier

I'm just loosely assembling the frame I have and the swinging arm doesn't look right. Its spindle doesn't look like that in the Owners Clubs Spares Catalogue - it has a thread on its end and looks as though as though there are spacers missing and the bushes in the frame are not "Top Hats" as in the catalogue.
Also with the Battery Carrier located to the upper seat frame bracket the holes don't line up with the square holes in the bracket on the frames spine tube (Why the square holes?) What's wrong?

The spindle, from memory, is welded to the swinging arm on the off side and the near side arm is clamped to the spindle, there is no thread on the spindle. As for the battery holder I don't quite understand the square holes so I won't comment.

The “square” holes take a cage nut - a clip in captive nut.

Yes the RH arm is fixed to the spindle and the LH arm is fixed with a cotter pin (like an old push bike pedal) no nuts on the spindle !! are you sure that is the spindle that came out ??

I can't find a clear picture of a lightweight swinging arm but here's a picture of what I've got

Or is this a Lightweight swinging arm with the wrong spindle welded in?

That's what mine looks like, the other picture doesn't look right to me either, the spindle is too long for a start but it is on the RH side as the arms are upside down

Looks like it is the wrong pin then

Has anyone replaced one of these themselves?

Unless someone had that made with that thread sticking out of the arm for some reason?? The pin may be the correct length up until the thread? have you tried it on the bike? maybe you can just chop the thread off?? I have only taken the left arm off and put it back on, I have never replaced a spindle
