Idea for adding 12v LED indicators to a 6v system

I don't want to go the trouble of converting the original WIPAC electrics on my AJS Model 8 to 12v but I would like to add LED indicators. There are loads of 12v options but very few 6v. If I took a feed from the battery could I just insert a 6v-12v step up box such as this:

and use a kit for 12v indicators, leaving the rest of the electrics untouched?

I fitted a 6v led kit from Paul Goff. Bit pricey but good quality and service and they work well and look good too imho. Got the torpedo shape in black finish, chrome is available.

that was the thread which inspired me to find the step up I am considering. The one recommended in the thread doesn't look robust enough for motorcycle use and it looks like you would have to solder the connections. I'd be happy to pay a little extra for the encapsulated one I found.
Goff is rather expensive and has a restricted range - there are some very reasonable 12v kits on Ebay. I'm mostly asking in case there are any pitfalls I should avoid - I think the main one is that LEDs are polarity sensitive.

I don't think the polarity of those winkers will be a problem as they have 2 wires, just reverse them for positive earth. Have to say though I do agree with Rangy that, as it's an alternator system, you'd be much better off converting to 12v. You could also do it negative earth while you're at it. 12volt system is so much better and simpler than 6volt.

Not a pitfall exactly but led indicators need a compatible flasher unit of course. Best one I found was from Dynamoregulatorconversions.com.
Have to say that the mounting thread length on your example looks rather short.
