Another Query - Alternator Wires

Hi All

I have an alternator with three different colour wires attached to it than was originaly on it

I need to trace which wire is which

Any Ideas ?

I recall the three of them are different !

In this thread Colin Farrington tells how you can use resistance measurements for this.
I hesitate to say but it seems there is a mistake there.
Wire L/G is the "center tap" or "common" between a low power coil L/G - D/G and a high power coil (2 coils in parallel) L/G - G/Y. Hence I would expect L/G - G/Y to show the lowest resistance reading, L/G - D/G about twice that value, and D/G - G/Y about three times that value.

Something to be learned every day I did not know that G11 or M30 had alternators I have only ever seen dynamos

Hi Tony , the bike I am working on is a bitza - I would say the frame is 54 and has g9 crankcases but G11 barrels !!
