Don't be fooled by this 283398450159 look for the head steady on the down tube? the numbers may match the log book but not the factory record. I nearly clicked the button :headbang:

I'd put an XS 650 front end on it. Keep the headlight though and chuck some LED's in it. Set of Hagon's on the back and a coat of Aldi blue. Yep, I'd have a punt if I had the spare readies. :D

A 1961 twin with no head steady and no heat shield on the oil tank and a single downtube frame (pre 1960) (Ah year stated as 1958) not quite "totally original".

Not for me I'm afraid, mismatched h/bar grips! What else might be wrong.

Sorry ! There is no heatshield on the oïl tank. But I can't see the two holes to fit the screews ? From memory (I have had a '57 M30) the tank is plain, and the 6 "strips" or "fins" are only on the shield. Are there original tanks without heatshield ? From 1956 ?

Problem solved ! For 1956 spares list shows heatshields only for G9/G11-M20/M30. For singles, no heatshield. The oïl tank on this bike may be one of a single. The six strips seem to have been painted, not embossed.

'This bike is complete and totally original'. Thats what the nice man is telling us on the advert. What a horrible world we would live in if we coulnt believe in the descriptions of adverts on ebay
