My experience too so I changed to 20W 50 non detergent multigrade and starting is much, much easier, cold or warm. And no, this is not an oil thread in the making.

I came across something like a g80 on YouTube a while ago that had this done. Cast new cases etc. Exactly for the reason of age limiting use. Even if you could do something with the dynamo, doesn't it run off the timing side of the engine. If it does, you wouldn't want to put that load through that drive train.
