Hi Folks,

I've read a bunch of threads which suggest "00" semi-liquid grease for the transmission, I'm interested in using this type of grease, however I can't seem to find a source here in the states. Does anyone have any recommendations for something I could find here?

Thank you!

Why not use straight 50 oil or Hypoy 90?

If you need semi-liquid grease for a Burman box then the Morris oils distributor in the US will order some for you at least they did for a guy on Britbike for his 20's Ariel. It wont be cheap.

Another option that has been used by some is corn head grease which is cheap and available at tractor supply places.

How about this stuff:

That could work. You need to compare specs with a known gearbox grease such as Morris semi fluid and decide if its OK.

That said I am pretty sure that corn head grease is much the same stuff and a fraction of the price.

If it's definitely a B52 'box, then the recommended oil is SAE50. Andy

Hi Colin, short answer is yes, that is the correct grease.

Zoom in on the image of the grease container at your link. It's NLGI 00, semi fluid and every grease manufacturer on the globe must meet The same standard for this lubricant, or face serious legal consequences from the National Lubicating Grease institute. https://www.nlgi.org

Your local Snapper lawnmower dealer stocks 00 Snapper grease, and virtually every lawn and garden tractor shop sell it. It is not hard to find.

I agree that 50 oil is the recommendation, however I got fed up with 3 Burman boxes weeping despite flatting the mating faces etc. I changed to grease with a dash of oil to thin it a little as I didn't want the change action to slow up (it's slow enough as it is!) and for several thousand miles everything has been great, without any incontinence.

Rob

I've kept away from the EP stuff and use SAE50 both AMC and Burman B52

I'm not worried about weeping, the only thing that makes me cry is the size of Roy's wallet and the thinness of mine.
