Sorry to be such a pain but I don't want to get this wrong and reading text isn't as clear as talking face to face and I'm not 100% sure if we are talking about the same detail.
In my sketch below there is an angle either side to the slot, if this is correct would your measurement be A or B?

Err, on my original spindle there is no chamfer its a square edge slot. This bike is a 1 owner bike that's not been apart until now so it's definitely an original pin..

My arm had an alien spindle in it so I presumed the spindle had chamfers - that makes it easier to make without them.
