Don't they have a vacuum system?

It may have. Chainsaws have a similar system where the crankcase vacuum lifts a diaphragm in the carb which opens the fuel valve. If the diaphragm is perished or has a hole in it there will be no fuel flow.
It could also be similar to some lawnmowers which have a solenoid valve in the carb which opens the fuel flow when energised.

Almost impossible to diagnose the problem online with so many possibilities.
It's a 2019 bike. There is a 24 month warranty and 12 month AA breakdown and Home Start on these AJS bikes. If you fiddle about with it you might invalidate the cover. Get the dealer to sort it. ;)

Got to be honest, Spriddler is right. There must be at least one year warranty. Take it back and get it fixed properly - for free!

The PDI for the Tempest Scrambler, states that the EFI Relay located under the seat, must be secured so that the terminals are facing downwards, failure to do so may cause the relay to fill with water and short out the fuel pump power supply
This may be the cause of lack of fuel!
This is from the official PDI sheet from the Tempest Scrambler that I recently bought.

This one in the Modern AJS section from Hughmoz1 has also disappeared:

Perhaps the exposure of non-subscribers' post is limited?
