Oh, you're right: my bearing says “ENU”, not “RNU”. Good spot!

vigo wrote:Thanks Gents, I looked back at your old post from 2013 Paul, that's great info. I've just been arranging to have the bearing track machined this morning before I read your post, I'll cancel that. Called Russel motors, nice chap, he knows the bearing and should have stock in the warehouse.
I will now speak with our club spares and ask why they are selling the wrong bearing when this goes back at least 7 years.

The layshaft bush, which I'm trying to get a batch for the club made, can someone give me the thickness needed of the rim. The worn bush I've removed is 4.3mm. That's the bit that prevents gear contact with the case.

I may have one somewhere, will have a look and measure it up

This may help, but cant remember which one I used but pretty certain it was the 32 mm I.D one , just a case of measuring the diameter of the track + a lot cheaper than when I bought mine!!

That's a useful link Paul but that bearing given as example would have an inside diameter 0.5mm too small. My sleeve track measures 32mm. Russel motors claim they have what I want at the warehouse a week wednesday, of course more expensive.

Oops! I've scrolled down and seen the 32mm i/d Paul. By the way people this query title started as layshaft bush well, I've moved on to main bearing, sorry for confusion

Just found out stuff during my restoration a number of years ago now. Could never afford to farm out work so just did everything myself and learnt as I went along. Did everything including the paintwork but the chrome was outsourced. I think "clanger9" has overtaken me in the knowledge stakes TBH though as I haven't had to do any real work on it now for over 4 years so have got a bit rusty. Queries like yours drags up knowledge that I had forgotten about so helps me to keep in touch...

I wouldn't go that far, Paul! Most of my contributions here are based on what you've taught me...
