There is a picture here that will give you an idea, it just sits on a "L" shaped flat tray that bolts to the frame

Definitely use some sort of rubber/cushion mounting. Originally I had the battery held in place with a steel strap and it failed very quickly due to the vibration. Note this is a non-standard 12V setup.
