Throttle cable .. 16MS .. 1956/7

My existing cable has a broken strand at the carburettor end and the outer is so short that I can't take up the play on the adjuster at the carb so, before I put the tank back on, I think I ought to get a new cable ..

The spares list shows shows several cables, but no indication of for which specific models, with choices of mid-adjuster and top-hat ferrules. In view of the existing adjustment problem I am inclined to go for have a mid adjuster, but should I go for the top-hat ferrule or not?

Thanks

PS .. what is the current thinking on the twist grip setting when released ..Stay in position or close?

Hi

If your carb was designed to be fitted with 'top hats' it won't have threaded holes at the cable entries, that said you will probably not have the original carb installed.

The parts list for your bike shows two carb mounted adjusters.

I like my throttles to slowly roll closed - easier to say than achieve

I prefer mine to close when released... and I like my side stand to kick up when I get aboard.

Thank you, MD

My carb does have adjusters on the throttle and choke, so "No top-hat" (Informal dress)appears to be the order of the day ..
