Please can anyone tell me the differences between side stands numbers 014715 which according to the 1961 spares list were fitted to G3, G80, and G12 CS/R and side stand part number 014719 as fitted to G9, G12 and G12 DL models? Thank you LynP

It's probably just the loop welded on to make it possible to find the stand with your toe (on a twin with exhausts on the side.)

I agree, all of the first lot dont have silencers on the near side and the G9 and G12 std have exhausts on both sides

Thank you both, That makes sense. One of the reasons I asked the question is because I have two different prop stands, I know the 014715 fitted to my G3 is correct, but the other stand I have is thicker, especially Down near the foot and so seems stronger, I don't know the part number for this one. Neither of the two have a loop or bar to help put them down. I did think the thicker one might be for the heavier twins, but as has been said, they have twin pipes.

My prop stand seems to short. It's on a 1957 G3L, frame and when in use the bike leans at a alarming angle. It showed no sign of having been shortened. I was thinking of lengthening it by about an inch and a half. So my question is do come in different lengths.

Yes but only longer for trials and CS. Is it because you've got a lot of wear in the stand/frame joint? A new bolt and a shim or better still ream out the frame and bush to original would make a world of difference.

I didn't know there were different stands (apart from the curved bar welded on the footing for STD twins). It makes sense though.

According to the 1963-64 parts list, there were only two stands for heavyweight models,

014715 == 350/500 STD, 650 CSR, 500 CS (!!)
014719 == 650 STD

So, if there were different lengths of 014715, I'd appreciate help to differentiate them. I know measuring a prop stand is a bit difficult - please take your reading along the leg, from the square projection of C/L bolt hole, to the bend at the footing plate, square to the leg.

Addendum: Prop stand used on the G3C had p/n 023224 and going by pictures was of similar design to 014715. Someone know the length of prop stand 023224?

In the following thread, length of 014715/014719 is quoted as 11.5". How was measurement taken?

On an associated point, I have a prop stand / bolt assy purchased from AMOC Spares under part number 900519, what part number would the stand be, 715 or 719?

And if 715, does anyone have a photo of a 719 they could post? (I'm beginning to think mine might clash with the exhaust on the G15CSR).

Mick, the side stand sold by AMOC Spares is similar to 014715.

014719 has a curled circular bar welded on top of the footing and transverse to the latter, see image below. I have no better picture, sorry.

Thanks for the pic. I think I will get a similar loop welded onto the prop stand / sidestand for my G80S. It should make it easier to find when on the machine as it is not always easy at all!

What are the "loop" dimensions if it's easy to get them.
