Can any body help. I am rebuilding a 1944 G3 but with a 1951(reportedly rebuilt after the war and re stamped) and I can't find any info on what type of oil seal is between the back of the clutch basket and the tin chain case. If any one can advise that would be great. Mike 9916.

There is no seal just a bloody great hole, however for comp models there was a water deflector which was fitted to the gearbox sprocket and a leather or felt washer glued to the rear of the case which the deflector ran against. The sprocket water deflector for the CP gearbox is available from AMC Classic Spares. It can be retro fitted to all road models.

Rob, tooo idle to chec but is there a similar for the B52? Whe I have the engine out I'm putting the B52 in while I take out and fix up the AMC (working but must need some attention).

AMC Classic Spares do list one for the B52 box and I have fitted 2 of them, they are a deeper dish than the CP type .

Realise I'm hijacking a thread, sorry. I'll be using a CP clutch.

Matters not what clutch you use it's more important what G/box is used to determine the water deflector required.
