1960 G5 Big End

Hi, I have the engine stripped down, but don't want to split the crankcases unnecessarily. The two crankcase bearings feel fine, but I don't know how to check for any big end wear by holding the con rod. Can anybody help me on this ?

Take a good hold of it and see if there's any up and down play (not sideplay)

Thanks Dave ..... obvious I suppose and I don't think there's any up and down movement, just a bit of waggle side to side.
