Cheers Rob, as far as I can tell it all seems ok. The main shaft is bent slightly so I will look out for a straight replacement at some point.
Echo Rob's comment, loose engine shaft nut happened to me once, years ago. I now clean the shaft and nut with meths, use Loctite, a socket & breaker bar and make sure it's proper tight.
The hub nuts on the rear of the Rover needed 110ft lbs, had to stand on the torque wrench to get it to click, not the strength there that once was!
