Hi, i have just started dismantling my G3ls, how does the brake lever come off the shaft, does the chrome end cap just pull off ?. I don't want to force anything and break it.
Thank you in advance for information given.

Remove the bolt with the lock nut completely and you'll find it'll slide off. The top end of the bolt is machined down to fit into a locating groove machined into the chromed boss so it doesn't slide off. The original bolt doesn't have a lock nut and bolts home fully

The bolt should have a lock nut. You will see in your parts list it states all models. As Rob has said the bolt does not have the lock nut, this may be so for other years. I only checked the 1955 parts list because my 55 bikes have always had the lock nut. It will prevent lose of the bolt.
Check you have the correct brake pedal pt no. 021720. You may find this no. cast on the inner face of the pedal arm. Also check you have the machined down bolt pictured 021713

For 1955 only that bolt 021713 did have a lock nut Rob you are quite correct. That part is no longer available from spares and even the factory dropped it along with the nut from 1956 and made the bolt shorter and assigned the number 022609.

Not very often you run across a machine with the correct bolt set up as it is clumsy compared to the later version. I do however know a man and a company that does/did stock it.

Have you looked in the Christians Archive?
You may have to convert the old testament number to the new.
