hi.

i'm currently shopping for some missing hardware.
in the parts book, it shows the stud that connects the rear loop to everything else being 7/16" x 12".
I'm guessing that it sticks out far enough to provide a mount for the brake.

i have two issues:

first, this stud is out of stock in the 'spares scheme' list.
second, i don't have the correct brake pedal anyway.

can i substitute another pedal? The twin version is all over ebay, but i can't tell what the difference is. Presumably, it's made to clear the second exhaust.

it appears some models use a shorter stud with a thread-on brake-pedal spindle.
the short studs are available, but i can't find any info about the spindle thing. Is it possible to change mine over since i need to find a pedal as well?

Can't answer your question about using an alternative pedal/stud etc. but .... If you speak to Steven at AMC Classics he'll be able to tell you and/or I'm pretty sure he'll be able to supply a 2nd hand pedal and new stud etc.

The simple answer is yes you can use a later pedal but it'll mean modifying the pedal stop etc. You'd be better off placing an ad in the Jampot or asking our chairman if he has any in stock. You'll need a sleeve spacer as well but they're easy to get knocked up. As for the stud it's on the replenishment list along with others that are out of stock.

I've been careful not to be the new guy who shows up begging for parts.

One of the things that attracted me to this machine, is that i don't know anyone that has one. It's the same rationale that brought the C11 home.
It is tricky, sometimes, to visualize an assembly on a machine you've never seen in person. Especially, when parts are missing.
All part of the appeal. Otherwise, i'd build a Honda.

I can't help much re your questions but I'll attach a photo of this from my 55 G80S as its in pieces at the moment. It may help to see the parts.
There is a screw in the pedal which locks the pedal into the grove on the stud boss.
Good luck finding suitable parts.

Rob on another thread Mick has helpfully noticed that you have the reduced head bolt inserted from the wrong side. It should be the other side so that the oil pipes can be fitted.

Those photos are very helpful.
Steven at AMC is sending some parts, including a suitable brake pedal. Postage is no fun, but it's great to find a supplier.
I have another order from the club store heade in as well.

Martin I am fortunate (not so my credit card) that I live less than 10 miles from Steve. I can confirm that he is indeed a most knowledgable and helpful chap and hopefully he can assist you.

So, i've placed two orders, and both times forgotten to get the bushing/spacer that fits inside the brake pedal and onto the stud.
My bike has a 12" steel stud that runs through the rails, rear loop and the swingarm bridge.
Does anyone have the same set up that could give dimensions?
I assume it's a top-hat that allows the stud to be cinched up without binding the brake pedal?

Not a top hat just a plain steel sleeve but I don't have any dimensions, sorry. You should be able to work out what you need by measuring the pedal and making the sleeve slightly longer so when the nut and washer are put on and locked the pedal can still pivot freely.
