AMC gearbox kickstart return spring problem

I had an AMC box with the kind of solution the Duncan and Groily mention. In my case the PO had not used a washer but shaped some steel to a "U" shape that fitted over the spring. That's the way I remember it anyhow. It worked.

Later MA gearbox with stud has different kick start shaft , spring , inner and outer covers. I have both 63 and 60 gearboxes and learnt hard way that bits dont exchange.Make sure pin is bent over a bit as suggested and hole not too badly damaged , it has stayed in the hole for me.
