Hi all
It's me again....
Lovely day so I thought I'd take the old girl out for a ride.
1958 G3LS
Started after a few kicks, no real surprise, as she's been laid up for about 4 weeks.
Opened the throttle but she wouldn't have any of it, just fluttered and died.
After a while she would tick over just fine.
First thought the main jet was blocked, so cleaned and tried again......no luck.
Checked the timing and points, all OK.
At this point I realised that the battery was almost flat, only 5.6v
Could this be the cause?
I took out the battery and found the connections were not great, so remade them and tried again......no luck.
The battery is now on charge, so while I wait for it to come back to life, I'm writing this.
This is probably an old and well covered subject, but I couldn't find anything in my search of the forum.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Mike

58 g3ls. Does this have an SR1 mag or alternator and coil ignition. If it is a mag the battery is not the issue.

But looking at the spares list it looks like alternator in which case hopefully charging the battery will sort it.

Hi Clive
Yes, she has an alternator and coil
I'll try again this afternoon, and let you know.
Cheers
