What does piston slap sound like?

Thanks for all the replys, much appreciated.
I'm sure it's not pinking (or pinging) I've experienced enough of that to know imediately what that noise is.

If the book says 1.5 thou for the big end then that is the most likely cause - there is certainly more than that.

We will be doing an autopsy sometime in the near future, I'll let you all know how we get on - and may even have some more questions along the way.

As I said in my much earlier post if you can feel play in the big end thats the problem.

get Mr Saggers to put a B.S.A. big end in your crank they last longer and don’t ever snap! Sadly the same cant be said of A.M.C or other aftermarket crank pins, as I found out when my G80 pin broke in two!
