CT / CS Jampots

Post by 59G3LS »

I recently purchased a pair of Mk2 Jampots, hoping to salvage enough good parts to rebuild my existing pair on my 56 16MS.
When dismantled, it appears that they are CT / CS units. Main and rebound springs are softer, damper tubes and rods are shorter, the rods having slightly different valve cups. There is also some kind of cylindrical valve assembly that sits in the bottom of the damper tubes. Although the parts lists specify the same plastic bushes, in these units they are over twice as deep as standard.
I have managed to utilize enough parts for my road shocks but I am wondering if there is any point in looking to rebuild these comp shocks, especially as back in the day the comp dept used to replace the internals with parts from a Rover car, probably Girling!!
