Smoke from carburettor

Post by G3L1946 »

Afternoon all,

After initial run, after restoration, needed a few items attending too. That all done, starts second kick, ticks over nicely ( well, as good as I can get it ). However, when stopped engine notice white smoke coming from carburettor air intake/ mouth.
Any clues please? Didn’t notice it previously and non of the adjustments, after initial test run, were with carburettor. Did adjust oil feed to rocker box ( reduced oil by turning screw in slightly ).
Oh, I did also apply exhaust sealant around the port and pipe to give it a good seal. Not sure that would have any bearing!

Thanks,

Steve

Hi,
Will check that again but should be O.K. as only just reset. Im now thinking could well be the sealant hardening and burn off from that getting into cylinder? Will give bike a run and re check .
Thanks for your thoughts.

Maybe the engine just came to a stop with the inlet valve open.

That's what I reckon. My bike does it occasionally - never really thought much about it.

Never noticed it so never thought about it. Now I’ve noticed it I’ll think about it. Now I’ve thought about it, I’ll forget it!

I think , ergo I am. Maybe, I shouldn’t?

You can get a bit of vapor pour out from time to time depending on the conditions. It looks kinda cool.
