I've finally solved the problem after weeks of frustration. The clutch actuation lever was 180 degrees out. The PO obviously did it, maybe to compensate for the wear in the old pushrod? Thanks to everyone for your help. It still needs putting back together.

Well done sorting it out, like most things once you find the answer you wonder how it took so long to find it. And the answer is usually right in front of you all the time. :thumbup:

You are so right and I knew it all along but it doesn't help see the obvious😂
