Forum Hacked ?

Hi all,

I recently received a warning message, from my Software provider, that my Forum account had been compromised or hacked and that I should change the password.
As the warning came via the actual system, not a third party email or similar, I took the advice. This was not completed through a provided link.
It may have been coincidental, but I have lately been subject to many scam and strange emails. Was this a result of the reported hack?
I would just like to make friends here aware so you can consider your options.
