Last year I built up an AMC clutch on an AMC gearbox. I used a pre commando clutch rod from RGM it was listed as 9 11/16" long.
I only put four friction plates in the clutch and the rod fitted fine.
This year I added an extra friction and plain plate and wondered if the rod was going to be too short. It was still okay, nothing fouled, the difference was taken out by the adjuster in the pressure plate.
I wouldn't worry too much about it's measured length, it will either fit within the range of adjustment available or it won't and if necessary you can work out what's needed from there.

what length rod did you receive . 040084 is listed as 9 13/16" x 6mm
I cant see any reference to A and B , is that your assumption of is it written somewhere?

There is a different pressure plate for the different number of clutch plates on AMC clutches, the push rod is the same for both.
