front forks

:? Help I am in the process of building a g80 This came my way in lots of pieces The lastest problem is the front forks One pair that need a full rebuild have dampers The good pair which i want to use have no dampers Is this correct And if so are these just different years of manufactor

From memory the teledraulic forks had shuttle valves (without damper rods) in 1948 and 1949 only. Up to 1947 and from 1950 there were damper rods.

If you decide to use the shuttle valve ones they are ok, but i converted my 49 to dampers. Although they have no dampers do you have the cone which bolts in the base of the slider? The shuttle valve should also sit above the bush on the stanchion.

Thanks for reply I'll look deeper the damper forks need new bushes and sliders The no damper ones are ok but did see a shuttle valve in them

The slider on the shuttle valve forks would normally be different with two bolts going through the casting into the steel brake plate rather using a torque arm.
