I still have a copy, somewhere, of 'You're the one that I want' the duet she did with Arthur Mullard. Much better than the John Travolta/Olivia Newton John version.
cheers

Back to the original thread. Has anyone tried used fish & chip oil in the oil tank? Might smell almost as good as Castrol R!

Tried sun flower oil in a Cub back in the late sixties,'cos I was skint and ma Maw had a gallon can for the chips (and Mars bars!)Big end went after about 2 weeks....now some people may say that was an improvement.Nowadays I wake up at night in a cold sweat thinking of some recent posts about fitting external filters!Merry Christmas to you all,and many thanks for all the great (and not so great)advice over the year.
Hard work never killed anyone.....but why take the risk?

So, the Cub lasted twice as long on chip oil!
I once read about some travellers in Africa in the 20's. They ran a rod bearing in their old Ford & no spares. They cut a new bearing from leather & filled the sump with green medical soap as that was all they could find.
The story goes that they did reach civilisation with the bodge.

I once heard of someone that filled their engine with pure olive oil, turned out he was telling me a load of soft soap.
Also did know of another that ran his bike on fish and chip oil, worked OK but the bike always looked a bit battered
In vintage days Prices oil had a good smell that was nicknamed by the brylcreem boys as "huile de kipper".
I used to use elbow grease as well, but they still squeak.Edited by - itma on 24 Dec 2007 9:35:16 PM
