Powell & Hanmer

Post by John11 »

Hi,
I am looking for an expert for Powell & Hanmer acetylene motocycle headlamps.
I know there are three different small headlamps with diameter 5,75“ outside the rim with the number 125:

1. a black one with some nickel plated spares where the reflector is held in place by clips on the inside of the lamp

2. a complete nickel plated lamp where the reflector is held in place by clips on the inside of the lamp

3. a black one with some nickel plated spares where the reflector is held in place by a big nickel plated nut on the backside

Who knows when they were made? Was the latter built at the end of the 1920`s or in the early 1930`s?

Do you know where I can get some illustratet usefull information?

Thank you for answering.

Powell and Hanmer were acquired by Lucas in 1929, so you might try searching their literature.

Have you tried the VMCC? Suggest E-Mail to HQ@vmcc.net for starters.

Good suggestion Alan. Geoff Brazendale, who's on the VMCC Board of Directors but is a very helpful and approachable man is an expert on such matters and I'm sure will be happy to help.
