Oil Leak From Exhaust

Post by Don Madden »

Santa Paula airport is a small, general aviation field with a lot of vintage small aircraft based there. Visited it today during their monthly open house, when all can wander about poking into the workshops & chatting with owners. Steve was a regular & well known.

Went from there to the nearby Camarillo Air Museum, dedicated to vintage military aircraft. Many interesting planes, of special note was one of only three flyable Mitsubishi Zeros & a late Spitfire fitted with RR Griffin engine. The latter's engine is being overhauled now, & I can't wait to hear it howl.

Cheers, Don.

Hello, All. Here is the Camarillo Air Museum website: http://www.orgsites.com/ca/caf-socal/_pgg1.php3

The CAF is dedicated to preserving & flying the old warbirds & all in the museum are flyable or under restoration.

My father was a carrier pilot from the mid-war era but forbidden to fly in combat during WWII as his carrier expertise was considered too valuable to risk. He was part of Halsey's Task Force 58 from beginning to end & took part in uncountable battles in the Pacific. These aircraft are dear to my heart.

SWMBO survived the Battle of Britain, her flat being damaged but she had already been sent to her grandmothers farm for the duration. The Spitfires were invaluable in the battle, but I have been told the Hurricane did much more, but is not as glamorous.

Cheers, Don.
