During a test ride on my 54GLS, I noticed a slight twist of the handlebars when riding in a staight line. I seem to remember that I need to undo the filler hex nuts, the clinch bolts and the right hand axle cap to rectify - is this correct.

Yes, and you may need to slacken the nut on top centre of the top yoke,could be worth checking the bars are ok first though?
