It seems that wind noise will be driving us into premature deafness unless we wear full-face helmets and ear plugs. What did you say...?

It isn't a new discovery,(it can't be as I've known this for years ) but a way of saying it with information to back it up. I got ridiculed on another web-site for stating they same thing but I didn't bother to argue as my information came from an NHS audiologist who spends his working day doing hearing tests on people.
Merlin, I doubt that you walk fast enough to create much wind.
Now, if you all rode a Silent LE you wouldn't need to worry.

This has been known for many years. I have used earplugs for two decades now. They dampen the noise but makes me ride faster instead.

Yet another thing I love doing which is some way bad for me.
If this is all true, I should be deaf as a post

Wife says I hear only what I want to hear. I say men have hair in their ears to filter out the chatter It's provided by nature

Its funny, when I wore Everoak open face helmets which were properly fitted, I never had trouble with wind roar.
The last couple I had, with the latest Lidl special, I have had to use ear plugs; well, I did when I used to get out anyway.
I cannot get used to full face helmets, apart fro the fact my conk is too big, I find them claustrophobic; I am unable to shout abuse at BMW and Volvo drivers, I love the feel of the weather on my face, ain't that what riding a bike is all about? and besides, on my 1928 Sunbeam or any vintage bike I just feel a right twerp.

I bought a NOS Slazenger jet helmet recently. It's made in the early '60s I think, and is much better regarding wind noise than other helmets. It's because the design is slimmer and more flush with the head I think.
