Can you help me by giving me advice on wiring up a new solid state rectifier. Firstly there are four lugs on the new rectifier and only three wires go to the old one. Secondly have I the right one, two lugs are marked, one with a plus sign and one with an AC sign the other two have no sign. This is for my G2 which is 1960 and it is positive earth.
Thanks Dave

Hello Dave,
the connectors of the old selenium rectifiers with 4 plates: Ground(plus): mounting stud
DC-output (minus): center lug (between 2. and 3. plate)
AC-input: the two outer lugs between 1. and 2 - 3. and 4. plate
Silion bridges: AC-Input:lug marked AC and lug
on the diagonal opposit side.
Ground: Lug marked plus
DC-output (minus): lug on the diagonal opposit side of lug marked plus.
The body of the rectifier has no connection.
so you need an extra wire from the plus-lug to the frame.
Merlin: no idea with 5 wires, maybe a 3-phase system.
Regards Ludwig

My rectifier has two outer plates and three inner plates with a wire connected to each of the 3 inner plates. Does the same apply? I think so middle DC- output, two outer ones AC input.
So on new rectifier plus is ground. Ac input is AC and Diagonal opposite plus is Dc output. Which leaves one lug free?
Sorry to be a pain

Read Ludviq's reply more carefully--He has given the correct info. Ignore your old rectifier as you will be using the new.

Cheers, Don.
