Any other information will be appreciated.

I don't recognise the g/b number but if the bike is a G2 you take the 2 screws out of the oval inspection cover, just above the kickstart lever, and remove it. The oil level should be up to the bottom of this "hole" and the oil you use should be of SAE 50 grade. I think it takes just over 4 pints after a re-build. Remember it's most important to keep the oil level up to this mark as the gears are high up in the box.
Hope this helps, let us know if the bike is not a G2 as it will have a different g/b.

Sorry David.
This question has been asked so many times in so many ways.
He has a WD grease box as far as I can make out,
If the box has not been cleaned out, just stuff some medium grease in through the inspection cap; it really does not have to be calculated, once its in it does not get used up.
tip in a tea cup full of 50 oil and forget it.
the grease will find its way about as it gets used.
any excess will come out behind the sprocket, till it all settles down and rumbles on happily tillthe end of time.
Its not hi tech.

Hi Guys
Now I am confused is it oil or grease ?
It sounds to me like both. I.E. stuff the grease in then the oil and it will mix itself up to a lovely treacle.
Similar idea to the now recommended swinging arm lubricant.

Its both.
If the gearbox is in bits and cleaned out you stuff it with handfulls of grease, the tip in a cup of oil when its all together.
Then from time to time as you feel like tip in a bit of oil.
I do it once every two years if i feel energetic.
box has been trouble free and untouched for 30 years.
I also swear by a bit of graphite powder .

Am I to understand that the answers are:
50 oil and medium grease !
Stuff it with grease and a cup of oil
Through the inspection cap
Or

db133 You seem to be doubt the wisdom of the information that has been given to you?
The main problem is the advisers are not exactly sure what type of gearbox you have? A picture would help or just say what model bike its fitted to. If its a Matchless G2 (250cc Lightweight) then the oil information is correct but the book says 3 pints not 4.
There are grease filled gearboxes used on some bikes but not normally the Matchless G2 and the information Itma has given is correct for those.
So all you have to work out now is what gearbox do you have?
