On most carbs, set the mixture at 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turns out from bottom & the idle stop to lift the slide to just see a litttle light under the bottom of the slide. This will get most engines started for final adjustment.

Cheers, Don.

Poor hot starting is often an electrical problem-especially mags.-but not on a G2!! Try a new condensor-and a different plug-or as my son says-leaning over my shoulder "buy a Honda".

Alan's tips are good. Also ensure timing is spot on & AA unit working properly.

Then finalize the carb settings. Slow the engine as low as it will run, then adjust mixture in & out for fastest idle, resetting the speed as you go. Then turn mixture screw in 1/4 turn to richen slightly for steadier idle & easier starting.
