Hi everyone i an having some trouble as i need to buy +60 rings for my 1960 g12 ( i have pistons).. i understand you cant get this size original hepolite rings so i thought i would buy new gpm pistons and rings - However it looks like the club doesn't sell 800031/6 ( mind you it is in the jampot parts catologue but not online ) the club does have csr pistons and rings - apart from the obvious higher compression , are these pistons a straight replacement - ie are csr heads/valves/barrells/pushrods different.. i will not go down this route if they are not a direct replacement.. cheers andy still no sign of piston ring king !!!!!!

I believe the GPM rings are to metric dimensions & do not interchange with the originals. Send out a search party for "The Piston Ring King".

All other G12/G12CSR interchange except speed kit cams.

Cheers, Don.

Andrew, the club do list:

900036/6 PISTON RING 600/650cc. PLUS 060 - Piston Rings; 1959/60 650cc. Plus 060 Engine Set

I am guessing this is for GPM Pistons, Jim will be able to advise, I am not sure if or why the 1959 rings should be any different to the 1960 and later, I thought it was just the crown of the piston that differed.

I don't know what the ring dimentions for 900036/6 are as have never ordered any. My previous advice is from info received from third parties. The 1959-60 650cc designation ignores that all factory 72mm bore engines, (G3LCS, G11, 1958 G12/CS/CSR, 1959-up G12/CS/CSR), used the same rings.

Cheers, Don.

Hi Guys, sorry i've been quite unwell for several months. Post 1960 rings for Original and Hepolite are radially thicker than pre 60. ie 56-59 600cc and 650cc pistons are 0.109" post 60 rings are 0.116". You can put 109's in later pistons , but not the other way round for obvious reasons.

Moley sorry mate if you Pm me I'll sort you some rings for your old pistons if you still need em.

they are extremly hard to get hold of and my stock of originals has diminished rapidly over the last few years.

I can provide much more info if you need it.

Mikey dippin, sorry mate I still have a wheel parcelled up ready, though i doubt you still need it now after waiting 3 months for me.

Sorry also to any other club members i may have let down waiting etc for rings and the like

even my membership lapsed so will put that right tomorrow, escpeically (DOH!) seen as I'm helping to host the best Jampot rally ever in 2 weeks.

Right i've waffled on enough now violins back in there boxes.
