I might be talking out of my ar..mature here, but I think Bodger's mag (type N1/3/AO) will probably have an integral condenser which I believe is not easily replaced by an amateur as the mag has to be stripped to get at it. Tony Cooper would replace the condenser as a matter of course.

Just a thought: spark failure when the armature (coil) gets hot(ter) is not uncommon. Isn't it possible to heat the magneto body *before* you start the engine and then see what happens? In tests with the armature taken apart I have seen failures below 60 celcius. The spark gradually degrades at higher temp.

Hi Albert. Yes, I guess that might have been one way of tackling it, but I've just come back from dropping the mag off at Tony Cooper's and he did a quick check while I was there and confirmed that it is duff. So, just a few weeks and then hopefully the sound of a G3L will once again echo over Kidderminster!
