Janet, if you had seen Trusty Rusty at the Stafford show, which won the 'Best Original' bike award, you would be proud of your lightweight!!
Glad to see the response from Lightweighters, Stuart will be pleased to hear from you all.
Many thanks and best regards.

And I'll have a double Lamb's 100 with ice, please, Al, if you're buying.
On second thoughts, don't bother with the ice...
Best regards.Edited by - Malleon on 16 Nov 2010 9:56:00 PM

Thanks to Big Al and Phamiltoneddy. Job done, I hope! I didn't have to remove the engine in the end. Put blocks in to support the engine on either side and when bolts are undone the lower casing swings down. You wouldn't believe the rubbish I found in the frame. 45 year old oil which resembled royal jelly and an acorn!

Re: Model 8 centre stand
I know this is an old post but you are the only person I can see who has successfully managed to change the centre stand spring without taking the engine out etc. Could you explain a bit more fully please how you did it.. mainly a bit more detail how you supported the bike, which bolts you undid etc and how you stopped the frame from spreading open which apparently it does do if you remove the bottom channeljimbob wrote:Thanks to Big Al and Phamiltoneddy.
