This 'bike was restored by me in the early eighties, and regretfully disposed of in the Cannock area in the late eighties, due to redundancy.

hi, I have an AJS16ms and would like to learn how to convert it to 500cc. Would you pls share your knowledge ? thanks. =arief=

Usually, a cylinder, piston to suit, cylinder head and exhaust system are needed. It's possible other parts differ too; I'm thinking maybe pushrods and tubes, but a parts list will reveal all. However, I believe cylinders for 500's are getting scarce because of the number of 350 owners who have converted. I believe you can bore a 350 cylinder to 410cc and use a piston from an A65. Some people say the AMC 350 engines are sweeter than the 500's. That may be down to the valve timing, which did differ between the two capacities from 1954.
