Tank and cables
Just fitted some new cables to my new bike. I find the cables are hardly long enough (throttle, clutch, and lifter could all do witn 3 or 4 inches more to run neat and without pulling. Is this how they are?
On the fuel tank does the deep rubber spacers go under the frame bracket at the front and above it at the rear ?
Regards Ken

All the thick rubbers go on top of the lug. Have you got standard handlebars?

Not sure about the handlebars but with the rubbers on top it just hits the tank.

Do you have the standard bars or some higher/wider ones on the bike this might explain the cables not fitting, and being too close to the tank.
It is possible to buy cables to suit the western/export bars, there should be a mention in the parts list.

Wow such quick replies. Hope you dont tire of my questions. Just lost the clutch level curved inner screw inside the chaincase so have it off now Bit of a poor way of sealing. Hope to get MOT next week and be mobile.

you could have fished the inner piece out with a magnet; for sealing chaincases do a search for chaincase sealing [second only to the oil question] as I am getting tired of posting the link.

All these repeated questions gives you something other than Chinese AJS's to moan about Ken.

Tried the magnet but it was not able to be picked up. Its no big deal. I will make a better seal on the case while its off.

It works fine but you need to peen over (aka knacker) the thread at end of the bolt so the bridging plate can't fall off the end.
