I need to remove the sprocket from the back of my AMC gearbox but do not have a socket to fit the nut. So, can anyone please tell me what size it is so that I can go and buy one.
Thank you in advance.

You can't use a socket over the drive shaft. Use either a large open ended adjustable or a hammer and drift once the socket is locked, either by someone standing on the brake pedal or by spragging the drive chain so it locks up.
But remember, it's an anticlockwise thread!

When I assembled the gearbox about 2 years ago I used a socket to secure the nut. Regretably, the old friend from whom I borrowed it has since passed away, hence the need for me to find one.
However, thanks for the reminder about the anticlockwise thread.
