Hi can anyone advise me about my petrol tank please
When fitting my tank badges do they bolt straight on or is there a rubber pad that goes between badge and tank also with the knee pad rubbers is there anything that sits between the metal plates and the tank ie spacers or a rubber pad

Tank bages have a rubber spacer
Knee plates dont, well not on the year my bike was made.
I stongly advise getting a parts book downloaded from the archives so you know what you have and what you dont. Its also good to tell us what year you are talking about, we all want to know, and need to know if you want help.

Best of luck

Alan, my tank (1947) does have metal spacers (STD639), as you say we need to know the year to help properly.

So you have the plastic badges, actualy I think you will find the badge with the narrow silver rim was 1954 / 1960, you will need rubbers under them pt. no. 027020 from club spares.

Peter, for 1955 I believe that you need part number 018853, the part is a piece of rubber with a bevel edge, you should be able to make one if it is unavailable.

In the 1955 parts book there is no reference to distance pieces for the knee grip plates, if you find you need some you could always use washers to get the correct gap.

Rob, where did you find the part number?
