54 18S 550cc

Hi, I have found a 1954 AJS I am in the process of acquiring, strangely it is currently registered as a 550cc, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on whether this may be correct, thx Steve

This is presumably the AJS equivalent of the Matchless G9B i.e an export G9 with a slightly bigger bore ans capacity 550cc. So would be an AJS 20B?

His heading says 18s so i presume it's a single.Don't know if they bore out to that much?

Turns out it was incorrectly registered. It is indeed a 500. Hopefully will complete the purchase in the next few days
