There's a discussion of this, found by a Forum Search, at :

I've always used the Champion N5 in the G80S.

I would not recommend using N5 (long reach) plugs in a '48 G80, for which the Champion L7 (short reach) was originally specified.

Of course, I wasn't suggesting cross year transfers, just use the original specification, which for a 56 G80S is Champion N5.
Hope I didn't give the wrong impression

Thanks gents - I checked the original spec which was for Lodge H14.
The modern equivalent is NGK B7HS-10 or Champion L82C but the NGKs seem easier to get.

At a local market recently I found a chap selling new old stock Lodge plugs very cheaply. I bought an HN thinking it would fit the 18S but the correct plug is the HLN and the HN is for the previous year iron head model. I was kean to try the old plug just to see if it would work. I wonder how. Long ago it was since Lodge plugs were available?
