no mate,, under the threaded bolt hole [5/16" 26tpi] it's empty space, then solid round frame. the bolt in the pictures can be screwed right down to trap a tank flange. if you know anything about pipe fitting [just presuming here] and you can imagine a 2" to 1/2" reducing 'T', then that's how it is.
have a look here:

the first 2 pictures are a good idea of it.
cheers, bb.

If the tank you have goes over the hole its a later tank. Should stop just short and have a bracket extending at the rear that the bolt fits through. I'd buy that one on ebay, sort the paint and get riding :¬)

i've uploaded a piccy of the underside of the fleabay tank. it seems to have things in the right place, including indent each side for the headsteady, so fingers crossed. should show up in photo's in the next day or so.
cheers, bb.

I can see the picture but it has cut off the part area we are talking about. The holes at the top are the frame ones the lower holes are for fuel taps. The rear frame fixing is just out of shot on the image.

decent photo of the underside of the tank now on 'new photo's'. i put the tank mount on the top so you can see it's right. everything fits - including the badges and the seat. the indents underneath clear the rockerbox and the bolt in the headsteady. but boy, does it need some fettling? dented is not the word.
cheers, bb.

It looks right, so hopefully that's a good start. Good luck with sorting it out. It should look nice when done and seemingly quite unusual as well

hi ian, it fits that perfectly that it's got to be right. with the front tank mount bolts in the back bolt is dead central in the hole. as i said, everything is away from the tank when it's fitted. just something i've never seen before.
cheers, bb.
