Looking for some help and advice , I have a late, 1966 G3 , the forward oil tank bracket cracks after I have been riding for three or four hours , is this common?
The pipes are flexible so the oil tank is suspended by the two upper brackets .
Should it be rubber mounted or should there be a lower bracket?

Re: Oil tank bracket cracking
I've had two of the later type oil tanks crack across the joint where the bracket meets the top of the tank, a more substantial fillet weld has sorted them out for now.
The tank does constantly flex that joint when flexible oil pipes are used.
One oil tank I have has a threaded boss at the bottom so I made up a bracket fot that one.
Even without a fixing point you could still make a bracket, say with a rubber pad for the bottom of the tank to rest against to reduce the flexing.
