Kick start lever movement
AJS 14 CSR. when pulling away the kick start pulls up and hits the rear of my leg. Changing gears the kick start returns to it's correct postion only to move again when the next gear is selected and cluch let out. Currently the gears select ok and the clutch feel also ok.
How can I prevent this happening. Is the clutch dragging?
While I am on line, does anyone know were I can get a work shop manual for this bike?
many thanks

Hi Martin
I too have a model 14 CSR (not yet a runner). The AJS workshop manual covers the model and there are a number of magazine articles which are useful. I can also let you have a copy of the handbook if you haven't got one (PM me with your address).

I dont know the internals of the lightweights but it sounds as though the kickstart pawl is sticking somewhere?

This happened to me on my original bike in the 1960s. I think it was cured by topping up the oil in the gearbox.

I have suffered the same problem on my G12, but only 1st gear is affected. I think I bent the k/start shaft or damaged the bush in the end when I dropped it on a round-a-bout. Haven't sorted it yet though.

It's dragging due to low oil. I have not tested it yet as clutch is sripped down as I found that the locking nut loose and the spring wahers was not enought to hold it all tight. A bit of lock tight I think.
